Crochet Batman Hat - FREE Pattern!

My little man (4 years old) is all about superheroes this year. When he saw the Hello Kitty crochet hat I made my daugher, he quickly put in his order for a Batman hat. Plus a cape.

The hat is ready to reveal. I'm proud of myself because I couldn't find the exact hat pattern I wanted so I made up my own. I have never written a pattern before so if you try it, please let me know if the directions need clarification. I think it looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

He is just a little thrilled with it (in case you couldn't tell).

This is a view from higher up so you can see the ears.
Now to make the cape! This is the fun pattern I will be following.

  1. I wish I knew how to crochet so I could make this for my boys! I can knit...but not crochet.

  2. If I see a knit one I'll keep you in mind to forward it along. Pinterest and Ravelry.com are great sources for free patterns. If you want I could always make them for you :)

Thank you so much for your comment.

  3. Hmmm... mine doesn't look like this. It is a lot smaller. Not sure if stitch is wrong or my wool. I had a bit of trouble with the ears: the first but is a little confusing.

This is no way a complaint, btw, just passing on my thoughts. Mine is not the same, but my wee not loves it - thank you, and well done.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience. I wasn't sure if the ears would make sense or not. I'll look at the pattern to see if I can simplify the instructions for the ears. Where exactly did you find confusing? If you make another hat, I suggest you use a larger needle. You may have a tighter stitch so that could make a smaller hat. I appreciate your feedback. Enjoy your hat!
